FAFSA is the first step in the financial aid process. You use the FAFSA to apply for federal student aid, such as grants, loans and work-study. Most states and colleges use information from the FAFSA to award nonfederal aid as well.
The 2015-2016 FAFSA form is ten pages long, however four of those pages are full of helpful directions and information.
