“Poverty was the greatest motivating factor in my life”. This quote came from a man named Jimmy Dean. He was a country music singer, television host, actor and business man. Many of us know him because he shows up at our breakfast table. He was the creator of Jimmy Dean sausage. By the end of his life Jimmy Dean’s net worth was $50 million dollars.
This quote is fascinating to me because it proves that your paradigm – the way you see yourself, your situation and the world – can either make or break you. I have spoken to many people who did not look at poverty as a motivating factor in their lives. Quite the contrary, they looked at it as extremely demotivating. But we can redirect the things that seek to overwhelm us by choosing to see them from a different perspective. Sometimes changing the lens through which we see a situation can change the actual situation. And when we believe different, we behave different. And when we behave different the circumstances are forced to turn in our favor.
Always keep an empowered mindset, act from an empowered perspective and stay motivated. Remember, if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again!
